How to Apply to Perform or Present at the 16th Annual JEN Conference

The 2025 conference in Atlanta, Georgia will take place from January 8th to 11th. The theme is "How Sweet It Is" to celebrate Suite 16. Conference art can be purchased on merchandise. Members can access conference applications and programs on the gen member site. Applications are open from April 1st to April 30th and will be reviewed between May 1st and July 14th. Applicants will be notified of their status on July 15th and will have 15 days to confirm or decline. Different membership types have different application guidelines and acceptance limits. The application process requires contact information, references, and a fee. Similar application processes are in place for clinics, performances, and research presentations. Backline requirements for performances depend on the ensemble type. Applications must be completed and the fee paid before the deadline. References have until May 8th to complete their tasks. Once all requirements are met, the application will be submitted and marked as complete. Performance applications require a title, description, stage plot, and photo. Files should be labeled with the lead performer's name for easy identification. The review process is blind, with reviewers not seeing names or labels on files. There are six reviewers in each category, and scores and comments are coordinated by staff. Clinic and research applications are not blind, with the committee looking at clinician/panelist information. The backline information section asks about the equipment needed for the performance. Audio files are required, and videos are not accepted for anonymity during the review. Audio files should be up to 10 minutes long, no larger than 30MB, and labeled with the leader's name or ensemble name. The fee must be paid for application submission, and references are due by May 8th. There is an FAQ page and support email available for questions and concerns. Chapter membership offers benefits such as discounted conference registration and early access to Generation's Jazz Festival registration. Generation's Jazz Festival is a non-competitive adjudicated jazz festival for ensembles, with discounted fees for students and directors. Exhibitor registration for companies and universities opens on May 1st, and information forms are due before the November print deadline for the program.
